Product Description

Replacement Front Camera Module for Apple iPhone 12 Mini, 12, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max

Restore front-facing photo, video, and supported camera functions on a compatible Apple iPhone 12 series device with this replacement front camera module.

This internal component is designed to replace a front camera affected by a black preview, blurry images, failed focus, image distortion, camera-app freezing, poor video-call quality, or other hardware-related camera faults.

Each iPhone 12 series model uses a specific front camera assembly. Select the exact phone model before ordering, as these modules should not be assumed to be interchangeable.

Important: The front camera assembly forms part of the TrueDepth camera system. Replacing the original module may disable Face ID or related TrueDepth functions unless the required original paired components are retained or transferred through an appropriate repair procedure.

Common Front-Camera Failure Symptoms

Replacement may be appropriate when the front camera:

  • Displays a black preview
  • Does not activate in the Camera app
  • Produces blurry or unfocused images
  • Shows spots, lines, distortion, or unusual colour
  • Freezes or crashes when the front camera is selected
  • Produces poor-quality photos or video
  • Does not work during FaceTime or supported third-party applications
  • Has visible internal damage or contamination
  • Stops working after impact or liquid exposure
  • Produces unstable, flickering, or intermittent images
  • Prevents supported portrait or depth-related camera functions from operating properly
  • Causes camera-related warnings or abnormal behaviour

These symptoms may also be caused by:

  • Software or iOS problems
  • Damaged display or sensor flex cables
  • Contaminated camera windows
  • Incorrect component alignment
  • Damaged connectors
  • Logic-board faults
  • TrueDepth-system faults
  • Liquid ingress
  • Another defective component

Proper diagnosis is recommended before replacing the front camera module.

Product Quality Notes

This replacement front camera module may be aftermarket, refurbished original, pulled original, or otherwise sourced depending on the selected product option and available inventory.

Image quality, colour balance, exposure, focus, low-light performance, video stability, cosmetic condition, component markings, and supported functions may vary depending on the component grade and production batch.

Depending on the model and supplier, the module may include:

  • Front-facing camera
  • Camera flex cable
  • Camera connector
  • Mounting or alignment sections
  • Supporting electronic components

Included components may vary. Compare the replacement module carefully with the original assembly before installation.

The replacement module does not normally include:

  • Earpiece speaker
  • Proximity-sensor flex cable
  • Complete display assembly
  • Dot projector
  • All TrueDepth components
  • Mounting brackets
  • Screws
  • Adhesive
  • Replacement display seal

A front camera replacement will not resolve problems caused by the logic board, damaged connectors, display assembly, sensor windows, software, or other TrueDepth components.

Face ID and TrueDepth Compatibility Notice

The front camera operates as part of the iPhone’s TrueDepth camera system.

Apple associates certain TrueDepth components with the original device. Depending on the replacement module, iOS version, installation procedure, and condition of the original components, replacing the front camera may result in:

  • Face ID becoming unavailable
  • Inability to configure or activate Face ID
  • A TrueDepth camera error message
  • Loss of facial-recognition functionality
  • Portrait or depth-related functions becoming unavailable
  • Attention-aware features no longer functioning
  • Camera or parts-related notifications
  • Repair-history information appearing in Settings
  • Front-camera functions operating while Face ID remains unavailable

A replacement front camera module alone cannot restore Face ID when the required paired component is missing, damaged, or incompatible.

Preserving or restoring Face ID may require:

  • Retaining the original paired components
  • Transferring original components
  • Specialized programming or calibration
  • Microscope-assisted repair
  • Microsoldering or precision component work
  • Appropriate diagnostic equipment
  • A functional original TrueDepth assembly

Successful retention or restoration of Face ID is not guaranteed, particularly when the original components have been damaged by impact, liquid, corrosion, heat, or previous repair attempts.

Camera Calibration and Software Notice

Depending on the iPhone model, iOS version, replacement component, and installation procedure:

  • Camera calibration may be required
  • A camera-related notification may appear
  • Parts and Service History may record the repair
  • Image processing may differ from the original configuration
  • Portrait or depth-related functions may behave differently
  • Certain camera features may be limited
  • Third-party camera applications may behave differently
  • Face ID may remain unavailable even when the camera produces an image

A camera-related or parts-related message does not necessarily mean that the replacement component is defective.

Software updates may change how replacement components, calibration, repair history, and associated notifications are handled.

Front-Camera Window and Image-Quality Notice

The front camera captures images through openings in the display and upper sensor area.

Image quality may remain poor after replacement if the camera window is:

  • Dirty
  • Scratched
  • Cracked
  • Fogged
  • Covered by adhesive
  • Misaligned
  • Contaminated by dust or fingerprints
  • Obstructed by an incompatible screen protector
  • Affected by damage to the display assembly

Clean and inspect the camera window before installation.

Do not touch the camera lens directly. Oils, fingerprints, adhesive residue, or dust may cause persistent haze, spots, glare, or reduced image clarity.

Installation Notes

Professional installation is strongly recommended.

Front-camera replacement requires opening the device, disconnecting the display, and working near delicate Face ID, TrueDepth, display, and sensor components.

Improper handling may damage:

  • OLED display
  • Display flex cables
  • Battery
  • Front camera
  • Infrared camera
  • Dot projector
  • Earpiece speaker and sensor flex cable
  • Logic board
  • Face ID-related components
  • Connector sockets

Before final installation:

  • Confirm the exact iPhone model
  • Compare the replacement module with the original component
  • Inspect the camera, flex cable, connector, and mounting points
  • Disconnect the battery before disconnecting or reconnecting internal components
  • Protect the original TrueDepth and Face ID-related components
  • Avoid folding, stretching, puncturing, or tearing flex cables
  • Inspect the camera opening for dirt, adhesive, or damage
  • Clean the camera window without touching the lens
  • Position the camera correctly in its mounting area
  • Confirm that all brackets and screws are installed in their original locations
  • Test the front camera before resealing the device
  • Test photo and video capture
  • Test focus, exposure, colour, and image orientation
  • Test FaceTime and supported video-calling applications
  • Test portrait and depth-related features where available
  • Test the front microphone
  • Test proximity sensing and automatic brightness
  • Confirm Face ID status before and after installation
  • Test all available TrueDepth-related functions
  • Check for overheating, restarting, or other abnormal behaviour

Do not force connectors into place. Bent pins, damaged sockets, torn flex cables, excessive pressure, or incorrect screw placement may permanently damage the camera or logic board.

Do not apply excessive heat or pressure near the OLED panel, camera module, sensor assembly, or Face ID-related components.

No tools, adhesive, replacement display seal, brackets, screws, or installation materials are included.

Water-Resistance Notice

Opening the device compromises the original factory seal.

A replacement display adhesive seal may help reduce exposure to dust and incidental moisture, but original water resistance cannot be restored or guaranteed after repair.

Incorrect camera positioning, damaged adhesive, or improper device reassembly may allow moisture or debris to enter the device.

Avoid exposing a repaired device to water, steam, high humidity, or other liquids.
