🔐 Privacy and Data Protection Statement — Device Repairs

3C-Easy Markham respects the privacy and security of customer information and takes reasonable precautions to protect personal information encountered during device diagnosis, repair, and testing.

Customer Responsibility for Data

Customers are strongly encouraged to back up all important data before submitting a device for service.

Where reasonably possible, customers should also remove highly sensitive or unnecessary personal information, sign out of accounts that are not required for testing, and disable access to confidential applications.

The customer remains responsible for maintaining an independent backup of all photographs, messages, contacts, documents, account information, authentication credentials, and other data stored on the device.

No repair service can guarantee against data loss, corruption, alteration, or deletion.

Device Passcodes and Access

Certain repairs may require the device to be unlocked so that the reported problem can be diagnosed and the completed repair can be properly tested.

Where a passcode is provided, it will be used only to the extent reasonably necessary to:

  • diagnose the reported issue;
  • perform the authorized repair;
  • test the repaired component;
  • confirm basic device functionality; or
  • complete another purpose authorized by the customer.

Customers who do not wish to provide a passcode may choose to remain present to unlock the device when required. However, the Company may be unable to complete full diagnostic or post-repair testing without reasonable access to the device.

Customers should not provide passwords for banking, email, social-media, cloud-storage, or other individual applications unless access is specifically required and separately authorized.

Limited and Purpose-Specific Access

Technicians will not intentionally access personal files, photographs, messages, applications, accounts, or other private content unless:

  • access is reasonably necessary to diagnose or test the device;
  • the content appears incidentally while performing authorized work;
  • the customer specifically requests assistance involving that information; or
  • access is otherwise permitted or required by law.

Testing will ordinarily be limited to device functions relevant to the repair, such as the display, touchscreen, cameras, microphones, speakers, charging functions, buttons, connectivity, sensors, or biometric features.

Confidentiality and Security

Personal information encountered during service will be handled confidentially and protected using reasonable administrative, physical, and technical safeguards appropriate to the circumstances.

Employees and technicians are expected to access customer information only where reasonably necessary for authorized business purposes.

The Company does not sell personal information encountered during a repair and will not intentionally copy, retain, use, or disclose content stored on a customer’s device for unrelated purposes.

Information may be disclosed where:

  • the customer authorizes the disclosure;
  • disclosure is reasonably necessary to provide an authorized service;
  • a service provider is used under appropriate confidentiality obligations;
  • disclosure is required or permitted by law; or
  • disclosure is necessary to investigate suspected fraud, theft, threats, or unlawful activity.

Repair Records and Information Retention

Content stored on the device is not intentionally copied or retained after service unless:

  • copying or data transfer is part of an authorized service;
  • the customer asks the Company to retain particular information temporarily;
  • limited information is required to document a diagnostic or warranty issue; or
  • retention is required or permitted by law.

Customer, transaction, and repair information maintained separately from the device—such as names, contact information, invoices, repair notes, photographs of device condition, consent records, communications, and warranty records—may be retained for legitimate business, accounting, legal, security, and warranty purposes.

Personal information will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or as otherwise required or permitted by law. When no longer required, it will be securely destroyed, deleted, or anonymized where reasonably practicable.

Data Loss and Device Risks

Although the Company exercises reasonable care, electronic devices may contain pre-existing damage, failing storage, software corruption, liquid damage, unstable circuitry, or other conditions capable of causing data loss during ordinary diagnosis, disassembly, repair, testing, updating, restarting, or restoration.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Company is not responsible for data loss, corruption, inaccessibility, or disclosure resulting from:

  • a pre-existing device condition;
  • hardware or storage failure;
  • software or firmware failure;
  • liquid or physical damage;
  • manufacturer security restrictions;
  • forgotten passwords or account credentials;
  • actions necessary to perform an authorized repair; or
  • another event not caused by the Company’s failure to exercise reasonable care.

Nothing in this statement excludes or limits liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
