Privacy & Data Access During Device Repairs

3C-Easy Markham respects the privacy of customer information and takes reasonable precautions when handling devices that may contain personal data.

Back Up Your Data

Customers are strongly encouraged to maintain a current backup before submitting a device for diagnosis or repair.

Electronic devices may contain pre-existing hardware damage, failing storage, software corruption, liquid damage, or other conditions that can result in data loss during diagnosis, repair, testing, restarting, updating, or restoration.

No repair service can guarantee against data loss.

Device Passcodes and Testing

Some repairs require access to the device for diagnosis or post-repair testing.

Where a device passcode is provided, it will be used only as reasonably necessary to diagnose the reported problem, perform the authorized service, test repaired functions, or complete another purpose authorized by the customer.

Customers who prefer not to provide a passcode may unlock the device when required. However, we may be unable to complete certain diagnostic or post-repair tests without reasonable access to the device.

Customers should not provide passwords for banking, email, social media, cloud storage, or other individual applications unless access is specifically required for an authorized service.

Limited Access to Personal Content

We do not intentionally access customer photographs, messages, files, accounts, applications, or other private content unless access is reasonably necessary for the authorized service, specifically requested by the customer, encountered incidentally during testing, or otherwise permitted or required by law.

Testing is generally limited to functions relevant to the repair, such as the display, touchscreen, cameras, microphones, speakers, charging functions, buttons, connectivity, sensors, and biometric features.

Information encountered during repair will not knowingly be copied, retained, used, or disclosed for unrelated purposes.

Repair Records

Business records relating to a repair — such as customer contact information, invoices, repair notes, consent records, device-condition photographs, communications, and warranty information — may be retained for legitimate business, accounting, legal, security, and warranty purposes.

Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable legal requirements.

Data Loss

Customers remain responsible for maintaining independent backups of information stored on their devices.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, 3C-Easy Markham is not responsible for data loss or inaccessibility resulting from pre-existing device conditions, hardware or storage failure, software failure, liquid or physical damage, manufacturer security restrictions, or other circumstances not caused by our failure to exercise reasonable care.

Nothing in this statement limits rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be limited.
